Summoning – Big Sky Astrology

On the belly of a duck

On a Taurus New Moon a long time ago, I decided to perform the Venus Santeria ceremony recommended by my friend Dana on Mooncircles.com. It sounds simple – a loaf of bread, a small candle, a nickel, a body of water – but I spent most of my afternoon collecting the right candles in the right shape. I created my own products, burned candles, and enjoyed some Venus time. Now, where can I dedicate my Venus to the wild?

My husband remembered a place in the valley where we might surrender my cosmic muffin to the San Diego River. We found a place where I perched carefully on the rocks and threw bread. At first it landed on the edge of the drain and sat there. I feel desperate for my little dedication to Venus.

Then, an intervention: a group of ducks descend, push them into the river, and then start eating. “That’s… OK, right?” I asked my husband. “I mean, nature attended the ceremony, and so did.” “Okay, think so,” he pointed out. “That roll will go further on the duck’s belly, not on its own.”

Obviously, it found its own way. Because two weeks later, in Scorpio full moon, I got a contract to write “astrology”.

Among the mythical gods, Pluto in Scorpio – the modern ruler is known as the “rich”. That’s why this week Scorpio’s full moon (May 12, 2025, 9:56 am PDT) is a good time to perform wealth-related rituals, calling out the answer to the call of the new moon in Taurus.

Prosperity is not a closed system. The money you want to attract must come from someone else. The moment you show willingness to receive help, the weight of making a living will be reduced in half.

It is important to prepare the cosmic bun, complete the work of finding the stream and releasing it along the way. But once you have completed a part of yourself, you can get your dedication downstream in the wind, or stick to the bottom of the boat, or even in the belly of a duck – driven by collective forces that can bring your wishes to your own far beyond your own little imagination.

call

This week, Mercury connects to penetrating Pluto in striking squares Aspect (May 12, 2025, 10:23 am PDT, 3º48’Taurus-Aquarius). The magician Claude Alexander Conlin is known as “Alexander: The People I Know” and was born on these two planets. Conlin is a popular stage psychologist in the early 20th century, offering private psychological readings and self-help books with spiritualism as the theme.

Decades after his death, he was introduced to Alexander in an Ocean Beach check-in store. One of his promotional posters, perhaps five feet tall, and peered at me from the wall with his trademark. It’s fascinating that I almost brought the poster home, threatened only by the price tag and the lack of adequate wall space.

This is the compelling power of Pluto with mercury. Today, using this combo is fascinating focus, focus and persuasion, make long-awaited breakthroughs in your work, summon what you want with magic, and do whatever you need to resolve.

possibility

As Jupiter enters its last weeks of year-long Gemini, I remembered what the wonderful astrologer Caroline Casey said: “Believe nothing, entertaining possibilities.” So far, maybe we’ve released some of the smaller beliefs of the second hand grip and gained a new appreciation for learning, curiosity, and intellectual flexibility.

This week, Jupiter’s north and south nodes in Pisces and Virgo (May 18, 2025, PDT at 11:46 am) and introduced a new question: What is your dream?

Be prepared to let go of your beliefs, even tempting possibilities. Virgo’s South Node celebrates quantifiable comfort. But the northern node in Pisces is more extensive about truth and potential. What faith are you in? How do you want to improve your discourse? What is the bigger story of being bound by faith rather than being bound?
