Makeover

A charming 1920s bungalow is the latest to be completely remodeled in my neighborhood. Following the now-familiar formula, the original casement windows were replaced with unimaginative vinyl windows, and the handsome shiplap siding was removed to make way for stucco. I believe any classic built-in components that remained inside are long gone.

I once heard someone say that the owner of a house seemed to love everything about the house except the inside and outside.

At another house nearby, workers were restoring original windows, carefully scraping old siding back to bare wood and then applying a paint job in beautiful, period-appropriate colors. What a joy to see.

Venus sextile Pluto (December 2, 2025, 1:07 AM PST, 1°55′ Sagittarius and Aquarius), Like all Venus-Pluto aspects, love remodeling, whether it’s renovating an old home or helping someone choose a new hairstyle and wardrobe. But there’s a difference between bringing something back to life by stripping it of its inherent beauty, and turning it into something else entirely, something it was never meant to be.

we have this

When I was young, my family didn’t have much money. But every summer, my mother scraped together enough money to take us to a national park. “We have this,” Mom would remind us, pointing to some mesmerizing natural wonder. One of the reasons I support the National Park Foundation to this day is that I never feel poor whenever we visit one of these parks.

Curious full moon in gemini (December 4, 2025, 3:14 PM PST, 13°03 Gemini) Opposing the Sun and Mars in adventurous, outdoorsy Sagittarius, all three signs square the North Node in Pisces. This freedom-loving, road-trip full moon reminds us that the curious Gemini spirit, wild Sagittarius nature, and empathetic, ecstatic Pisces heart are our true treasures and the greatest gifts we can hope for.

page turner

This week, Sun in Sagittarius squares the North and South Nodes of the Moon In Pisces and Virgo (December 5, 2025, 4:22 AM PST, 13°37′ Sagittarius, Pisces-Virgo). A planet squaring the nodal axis is called a “bend,” turning its focus toward the North or South Node. The Sun is now in its southern bend, which means it points toward the South Node in Virgo and focuses on releasing patterns of criticism and attention to detail. You may feel a quiet, inner call to release these unhelpful tendencies, even though you may find it difficult to make outward changes.

This aspect marks the midpoint between the two eclipse seasons. Eclipses are points of change, page-turners in the narrative, moving us from one end of the nodal axis to the other. Now is the time to let go of what you don’t need, perhaps what you realized during the Lunar Eclipse on September 7, 2025 (15° Pisces/Virgo); a spiritual yard sale to prepare you for the upcoming Solar Eclipses on February 17 (28° 50′ Aquarius) and March 3, 2026 (12° 53′ Virgo).

write a book

This week’s trine comes from Mercury to Jupiter (December 6, 2025, 24°08′ Scorpio and Cancer 5:05 AM PST) and saturn (December 7, 8:58 AM PST, 25°’14’ Scorpio and Pisces) is the last in a series of three. The first time is on October 24th and 25th, and the second time is on November 22nd, when Mercury goes retrograde.

Astrological wisdom tells us that these time frames are connected like pearls on a necklace.

I’ve written several books and this is a great metaphor for Mercury’s connection to Jupiter and Saturn. A book begins with a grand Jupiter story. Every writer has their own way of turning a story into something that other people will enjoy. Many people want to write a book, but it is still a wonderful dream.

What is the difference between these people and those who write their dreams in books? Saturn. Saturn will make you sit down and make plans. Of course, you can sit down and start writing; start with something that interests you and see where it takes you.

But with Saturn on your side, you have a more solid foundation and usually an outline. For each chapter, you decide what needs to be told, such as plot elements and character details.

Once you’ve built this scaffolding, you’re ready to compete. You have something that will make your big dreams come true. And you’re less likely to overlook something important and more likely to realize it when the work is done.
