Things You Can’t Control – Big Sky Astrology

spirit becomes visible

Careful readers will remember that my late father, a textbook Capricorn, was a farmer. He felt great joy as he rode the tractor and tilled the soil neatly. He loved the dirt, the heat, the humidity, the bugs, all of it. When he comes home for dinner, he’s exhausted but as calm as a Capricorn.

I have no intention of romanticizing hard labor. But one thing is for sure – humans are not designed to sit still indoors under artificial light for hours a day. We may enjoy what we do during these times and may not even think of ourselves as a physical being; but our bodies don’t think so. Think of the feeling of happiness and relaxation that comes after an intense workout.

When the Sun conjuncts Saturn each year This week (March 25, 2026, 1:55 AM PDT, 4°43′ Aries), we may feel restricted, constrained, achy, tired, or dissatisfied—especially in the day or two before a specific aspect arrives. The physical body can be an uncomfortable Saturnian vessel for the Sun’s bright spirit, especially when it is derelict. But the Sun-Saturn conjunction reminds us that our bodies are visible spirits, that it is a privilege to be alive, and that we have an obligation to provide our bodies with as much use as our minds.

Change your form

This week, Sun sextile Pluto (March 25, 2026, 11:16 AM PDT, 05°06 Aries) a few hours after the meeting between Saturn and Saturn. After weeks of major shifts, this doesn’t seem like a very minor one. But the connection between the Sun and Pluto is unimportant.

The two will unite in Capricorn on January 23, 2026, starting a new cycle. When these two important symbols come together, we face tremendous pressure to change our current shape. Often, this pressure comes from people who have power over us, such as bosses, parents, or bank managers.

But in the opening sextile, we are already well away from the power struggle. We can begin to see the choices available to us—although whether we are willing to accept them, or whether they will take us where we want to go, is another question.

protect tender things

First quarter moon (March 25, 2026, 12:17 PM PDT, 05°08′ Cancer-Aries) We are inspired to take action, and in Cancer, that action often involves protecting something tender, whether it’s our loved ones, our time, our energy, or something that keeps us safe. Whatever the new moon in Pisces initiated on March 18 now begs the question, “Do these goals make sense to me?” Fortunately, Pisces and Cancer are compatible water signs, and Pisces’ enduring new moon goals, such as healing, spirituality, and intuition, are easily supported by the waxing moon in Cancer.

The Sun has just been conjunct Saturn and the Moon is squaring Saturn during this first quarter, so it is reacting to the influence of Saturn in Aries. “Stay strong and take action!” roars the Sun in Aries. While Cancer is no pushover, its approach to action in the first quarter was softer, less strident, and focused on home ground.

This stage can bring about emotional conflicts, especially around home, family, and even the way we are raised and parented; but it also clarifies where adjustments are needed. The invitation at this stage, therefore, is not to be tough or hold on, but to respond—to make choices and take actions that support nutrition and safety so that whatever you are trying to build has a chance of taking hold and lasting.

Chapter 337 Saturn and Pluto: Healthy Skepticism! – Big Sky Astrology things you can’t control

Andrew has been working for the same company since early 2020 around the time of the Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn – improving his knowledge and skills and doing everything possible to make himself an asset to the organization, even in a year of pandemic disruption. Innovative, pioneering and hard-working, he worked his way up the corporate ladder and had every reason to believe he would stay until one day he decided to retire.

Then, on a recent Friday morning, he was called into a Zoom group meeting, where he and 19 colleagues were summarily fired. Not only did he lose his job unexpectedly, he didn’t even have the dignity of a personal dismissal.

This is the worst case scenario Saturn in Aries, the planet of responsibility, hard work and professionalism, conjunct Pluto in Aquarius (March 28, 2026, 3:11 PM PDT, 05°09′ Aries and Aquarius). This combination may give you greater power, but it may also make it easy to lose sight of everything you’ve worked so hard to build. Any sense of control you had over your life, status, and income can be shattered in one frustrating moment.

But because sextiles are aspects of hope, allow me to dig into this week’s sextile between Saturn and Pluto for a glimmer of hope—one that has the potential to transform destruction beyond your control into new levels of personal evolution. For Andrew, this was an opportunity to take the qualities that made him a great (but ultimately disposable) employee and apply them to his own business.

Getting fired was a terrible turn of events, and there was no guarantee he could succeed on his own. But Andrew was in a good position to start a business—after all, devoting himself to his employer didn’t make him safe. Now he has the opportunity to use Saturn to create his own employment opportunities and Pluto to take charge in a whole new way.
